About the Role
The Service Writer serves as the bridge between customers and technicians at Smith’s Diesel Performance, ensuring every job runs smoothly from start to finish. In this role, you’ll be the main point of contact for customers. Greeting them, listening to their concerns, and translating their needs into clear work orders for the shop. You’ll create accurate estimates, schedule repairs, assign tasks to technicians, and keep customers updated on progress, costs, and timelines.
The Service Writer plays a vital role in maintaining organization, communication, and trust between the shop and our clients. You’ll help manage the daily workflow, assist in parts procurement, and ensure that every repair is handled efficiently and professionally. This is a great opportunity for someone with strong people skills, mechanical understanding, and a passion for keeping things running like a well tuned engine.
Requirements
2 years automotive experience required
Strong understanding of diesel repairs, maintenance, and upgrades
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Create detailed estimates for repairs, maintenance, and upgrades
Schedule and manage service appointments
Assign work to technicians and track progress
Update customers on cost, progress, and timelines
Manage billing and documentation of completed work
Assist with parts procurement and inventory management
Organized, detail-oriented, and tech-savvy
Ability to communicate effectively with both customers and team members
