About the Role
The B-Tech position is an intermediate-level technician role at Smith’s Diesel Performance, ideal for someone with hands on experience in diesel repair and maintenance. As a B-Tech, you’ll handle a wide variety of diagnostics and repairs on Powerstroke, Cummins, and select Duramax engines with minimal supervision. You’ll be responsible for identifying and addressing mechanical issues, communicating with the service writer about parts and repair needs, and ensuring all work is completed accurately and efficiently.
This role plays a key part in maintaining shop flow. You’ll work independently while also supporting and mentoring newer techs. It’s a great opportunity for a motivated mechanic who wants to continue building expertise, earn additional certifications, and work toward becoming an A-Tech within a high performance diesel environment.
Requirements
Experience as a diesel technician (C-Class or equivalent experience
Strong diagnostic and repair skills with little supervision
Communicate needed parts and updates with service writer and team
Inspect trucks for additional or preventative work
Perform test drives for diagnostics and repair verification
Accurately document all work and maintain organized records
Hold at least 4 ASE A1–A9 certifications
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Commitment to ongoing training and certification advancement
